Pune: Preliminary investigations by the Pune rural police into an alleged strip party by actor Sunny Leone have revealed that the said party didn’t happen in Pune district.
Videos and images of a Sunny Leone lookalike stripping at a party went viral earlier this week in the social media and it was said that the strip act happened at a private event of diamond traders at an establishment on the old Pune-Mumbai highway. Sunny Leone has denied the ‘party’ and insisted that the images were morphed.
However, concerned that the name of a private establishment was discussed, Pune rural police launched preliminary inquiries and found that no such establishment -- hotel, resort or club, existed on the old Pune-Mumbai highway as was reported.
Superintendent of police (Pune rural) Manojkumar Lohia told dna, “There was a buzz among senior police officers about such a party. We had also seen the said images and hence decided to find out suo motu if this happened at all. All our informers were alerted, and officers were asked to find about this in Lonavla but we have found nothing so far.”
Lohia said, “We are specially keeping a close tab on Lonavala and Wadgaon Maval-based hotels and restaurants where illegal parties are being organised during weekends. We have also busted such parties in the recent past and this will continue in the future too.”
Pune city as well as rural police is in hyper-drive over illegal parties and senior officers have repeatedly warned hotels and restaurants of raiding the establishments if proper licences were not obtained. “Against the backdrop of this hyper activity, we indeed doubt if any such party took place. The whole episode looks fishy,” said a senior police officer.
