Pune: City has come under terror attack five times, since the first terror attack in 1990. But still the security in the city is a big concern. Most of the promises made by the state government especially installation of 1,000 close circuit television cameras (CCTV) across the city, sanctioning of additional police personnel and bomb suit proposal are moving at a snails place.

The Pune police had earlier submitted proposals to the state home department, seeking new bomb suits for the Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS), additional manpower and CCTV cameras. Additional Commissioner ( administration ) Abdur Rahman said that 1400 more personnel were being recruited to increase the force strength. “We have not received any bomb suit so far as the proposal is handled directly by the Director General’s office. As far as the CCTV work is concerned, the government has sanctioned and given permission to the contractor to start the Rs 224 crore work but it has been delayed by the contractor, “ he added.
