Pune : As there are enough seats available for Class XI, it seems that there would not be any problem accommodating excess students. Meanwhile, by evening, as many as 60,000 students had applied through an online process of central admission process and confirmed their forms. Though Tuesday was the last date to apply online for admission process, the education department extended the time till 10 pm on Tuesday.

By 6 pm on Tuesday, as many as 60,000 students filled the forms and confirmed their forms online and it is expected that the number would touch 65,000. The total intake capacity across all the streams (Science, Arts and Commerce) is 67,000. It was anticipated after the class X results and increased pass percentage, there would be some issues, however, now it seems that all the students will be accommodated.

However, the deputy director of education, Suman Shinde said “Though the seats are more and the number of applications expected are less, we would have to see the streamwise distribution of students as it is observed that Science and Commerce (English medium) are more in demand this year.”
