Spl control room to monitor thefts, stampede during palkhi

The Pune rural police will set up a special police control room, which will monitor thefts and stampede through 52 CCTVs during the Dnyaneshwar Maharaj palkhi procession which arrives in the city on July 1.
The top brass officers of Pune rural police have allocated a special officer along with 10 policemen for the control room. They will keep a close tab on the palkhi’s movement, especially when it moves along the Indrayani river ghat.
Deputy superintendent of police (Khed division) Bharat Patil said, “The temple trustee has installed 52 CCTVs in and around the temple. They have been connected to the special control room. Besides, we have also formed a special squad equipped with walkie-talkie which will report to the control room during the procession time.” He added, “To avoid molestation and small thefts at the ghat section, a special women constable team has been formed.”
Patil said, “The deployed special squad will pass their information to the control room and from there necessary action will be taken immediately. We have taken enough precautions to avoid any untoward incident this year.”
