Pune: Following complaints regarding issuing of Tatkal passports in Pune, the passport office held a passport mela to speed up the procedure. The 'Special Passport Mela' was organised between 9:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) on the Mundhwa Road on Saturday. As many as 400 appointments were made available for tatkal passport seekers, who visited the PSK to get their passport applications processed. The appointment slots to register for the Special Passport Mela had been made available from March 21, 2014.
A number of other assertive steps such as elongated appointment cycle, launch of Passport Seva App on Windows and Apple platforms, premium SMS service were also launched by the authorities to make the passport application process hassle-free for citizens.
For those who missed out on the mela, a similar event for Tatkal applicants will be held on March 29. You will have to register on www.passportindia.gov.in, upload the requisite documents, pay the suggested fees online, and generate the ARN after taking the online appointment. The online appointment slots will be available from 12 noon on March 27.
