Six arrested under the Arms Act for murdering a 15-year-old in Pune

Pune: A gang of six persons including Shubham Phuge, who is the son of former corporator Seema Phuge and Datta Phuge (Goldman), were arrested by Bhosari police on Wednesday night for allegedly carrying sharp weapons. They have been accused of murdering 15-year-old Shubham Shirke and booked under Arms Act of Indian Penal Code.

The arrested persons have been identified as Shubham Dattatray Phuge (19), Chandansingh Bora (19), Nikhil Sanjay Kamble (19), Hrishikesh Subhash Lashkare (21), Akshay Ashok Bhagat (19) and Nitesh Ramavatar Singh (19) They are residents of Bhosari area. Out of the six, Akshay was a minor when he was accused of Shubham’s murder. The police detained him and sent him to an observation home. A year later, he was out on bail.
C D Bhosle, Inspector in-charge, of Bhosari police station said, “As there was tension in some pockets of the city, police were patrolling in Bhosari area. The team found a four wheeler car moving in suspicious manner in Chakrapani area in Bhosari. They initially asked the car driver to halt but instead they drove away. They then chased the car for nearly five kilometers and caught them.”
Sub-inspector Sanjay Kandalkar, who is investigating the case, said, “We have seized two choppers, two swords and one rambo knife from them.”
Akshay was one of the king-pins allegedly involved in the murder of his former classmate Shubham which took place on March 31, 2012. They were produced before the court where they were remanded in magistral custody.BOX:The murder of 15 year old Shubham Shirke had shock the entire city. Home minister RR Patil had visited Shirke family after the murder. During the police investigation, two minors including Akshay were detained. 
Senior Inspector Motichand Rathod, who had detained Akshay, said, “During the investigation, Akshay revealed that after kidnapping Shubham, he had called called Shubham’s parents for ransom. Akshay was a fan of Bollywood. He liked the character of Vivek Oberoi in Shootout at Lokhandwala who played the gangster Maya Dolas in the movie.”
