Sex-determination test racket: Satara animal husbandry dept owns sonography machine

The pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques team from Pune, which was sent to probe on the sex-determination test racket busted on Saturday in Satara, has revealed that the animal sonography machine which was being used for illegal sex determination was owned by Satara Animal husbandry department.

The panel interrogated the machine owners in Mumbai, where they claimed that the machines were purchased in bulk and each of them costs Rs 6 lakh.

Meanwhile, the panel also interrogated family members of Yashwant Satpute in Kolhapur and his associates at Bansal hospital in Dehu road. Satpute had suggested the Pune couple to undergo the test.

Investigation member of the PCPNDT cell Dr Yamini Adbe claims, “Its a big racket and there are chances, the ward boys, technicians and other persons are involved in this racket.”
Another case will be registered in this regard against the Satara animal husbandry for their negligence,”she adds.
