Satish Shetty murder case: CBI raids IRB’s city offices

The teams of CBI conducted raids at four places in Pune, including two buildings in Erandwane, where the offices of IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd are located.

The teams of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the murder of Right to Information (RTI) activist Satish Shetty, conducted raids at four places in Pune on Friday. The raided places include two buildings in Erandwane, where the offices of IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd are located.

The CBI has been probing the murder of RTI activist which had taken place in Talegaon Dabhade in January 2010. A year before Shetty’s murder, he had lodged a complaint with the Pune police.

The complaint was regarding a land scam allegedly involving IRB chairman. The IRB Infrastructure was recently in the news for its alleged links with BJP president Nitin Gadkari’s Purti Group.

Six officers of the CBI had participated in the raids. The action began around 10 in the morning with the CBI teams entering into the offices and closing down the shutters. The raids continued till late evening.

One of the offices is located in Nirmiti Eminence building. According to sources, the other three raided places include one more office of an infrastructure company in Erandwane and two offices owned by a real estate agent.

Despite repeated attempts, IRB’s lawyer Ajit Kulkarni was not available for comments.

On October 24, three teams of the CBI had conducted raids at 11 places. One of the teams had then carried out search at IRB lawyer Ajit kulkarni’s office near Garware College, Deccan.
