Pune: A day after a lady cop was reportedly slapped by her male colleague for filing an RTI, many city-based RTI activists came forward in support of the lady, and approached the city police commissioner, demanding stringent action to be taken against the offending officer. They also asked for her to be given protection.

Speaking to dna, Deshmukh said, "After the incident came to light, I had word with commissioner Satish Mathur. He has ensured a fair probe, and also told us that an inquiry has been constituted in this regard."
Deshmukh said, "We have been assured, and lets hope for the best. Until then, we have demanded that she must be given protection."
