Relax! 150 house break-ins solved in Pune

One of three suspects involved in burglaries including those in Bavdhan and Wakad arrested

Going by the claims of crime branch unit (III) sleuths, here’s a news of relief for the residents living in Bavdhan and Wakad areas. With the arrest of a burglar of an interstate gang, the crime branch sleuths claimed to have solved 24 house break-in cases which were reported in Wakad and Bavdhan areas in December, 2013. The arrested burglar has been identified as Mustak alias Sherkhan Hazizafar Kureshi alias Babli Ramchandra Chowdhary (37) of Gaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. 

With his arrest, the sleuths also claimed that 150 house break-in cases reported in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and New Delhi in the recent past have been solved.

According to the officers, the burglars have been operating in a syndicate manner in the country. They had been arrested couple of times by the city as well as the state police in the past. They have been operating in the country since 2006.

During interrogation, Mustak spilled the beans and revealed the names of his associates - Nazim Usufbangali Kureshi alias Kapil Harbir Tyagi and Bhagwan Dharam Giri alias Sudhir Hukkumsingh Chowdhary alias Shariya alias Ajay, both are residents of Gaziabad Uttar Pradesh.

The suspects had targeted three high-profile societies in Wakad area and had broken into 18 flats and decamped with a booty of Rs18 lakh  on December 24. Thereafter, on December 26, the burglars targeted six flats in Bavdhan areas.
