A group of youngsters released their short film, All Indians Are My Brothers And Sisters? on Republic day in the city. The short film of 1 minute and 36 seconds duration raises serious questions about the intolerance towards the sexual preferences of the community.

The film was produced by their own film-making company, Abhinav Short Films and Documentaries.Abhay Chaugule, 22, director of the film, said that the team has been researching about the prejudices people have against members of the LGBT community. Chaugule talking about the film story added that the film gave the people of the LGBT community a chance to speak their mind about the social rejection they face because of their personal choices.

The film-makers have tried to highlight the various emotional ordeals that people from the LGBT community undergo. The film tries to look at the various people who are completely shunned by their own family and are treated as if they do not have the right to be somebody’s son, brother or sister just because of their sexual preferences.

The three friends, Abhay Chaugule, Bhartesh Bub and Nikhil Chinchkar, have been independent filmmakers for the last four years. They mostly focus on social issues plaguing the country. On August 15, 2014, they had released another film, India is my country or?, questioning the society’s attitude to prioritise religion and caste over humanity.
