Five people, including a quack, who allegedly cheated a 56-year-old woman to the tune of over Rs2.07 lakh by promising that they would cure her ailing husband with their magic medicine, have been booked.
One Asmita Dilip Adhav of Kothrud lodged a complaint with the Kothrud police.
The quack, identified as SV Vaidya, and his four accomplices have been booked under IPC.
Police sub-inspector RB Phad said Vaidya and his four accomplices approached Adhav and told her they would cure her ailing husband with their magic pills and gave her some medicine. Suspects took Rs2.07 lakh from her between January and February 2013.
