Authorities of Jehangir hospital have made a complaint against a police constable for creating problems for the hospital’s doctors and nurses for the last couple of weeks. The constable’s son had met with an accident in the August last year and since then he had been taking medical treatment in the hospital.

The hospital authorities have alleged that the constable is not following the hospital’s protocol and is creating problems in its functioning.

The constable, who is working at Pimpri police station, fought with security personnel, doctors and nurses at the hospital. Following which, the hospital authorities submitted their application to Pune police commissioner Gulabrao Pol last week.

In their application, the hospital authorities claimed that the constable’s son got all necessary treatment. Now, he requires only nursing which can be taken at any other hospital.

“However, the constable is not paying heed to the hospital authorities and has forcefully acquired place in the special ward in the hospital.\”

The constable’s son has serious spinal injuries and was being treated by specilised doctors at the hospital. However, the constable is not happy with the treatment and is creating problems in the hospital’s functioning.

According to the application, the constable had fought with security personnel. “The constable had parked his vehicle at the wrong place at the hospital. Following which, the security guards asked him to park his vehicle at a different place in the hospital. However, the constable spoke rudely and threatened him as well,” the application states.

Taking cognisance of this, Pol has asked an officer of the rank of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) to look into the matter.

DCP Shirish Sardeshpande told dna, “The hospital has provided their best service to the constable’s son. We have received the application from the hospital’s authorities and will investigate the matter.”

Another officer of the rank of DCP, told dna on condition of anonymity, “Most of the hospitals are providing their good services to the policemen. However, some of the policemen take disadvantage and create problems for the hospital authorities.”

An official from the hospital, on condition of anonymity, told dna, “We have counselled the constable several occasions, but in vain.”
