Pune: Trees toppled, power lines snapped

People living in Kothrud, Bavdhan, Warje Malwadi, Karve Road, Dahanukar Colony and Bhusari colony areas are facing power failure. Heavy rain and strong winds have downed trees, snapping power lines.

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has managed to restore power supply to most of the affected areas.

MSEDCL public relations officer Nishikant Raut said, ”Tree felling damaged cables, including 4 overhead cables of 22 kilowatt and 3 overhead cables of 11 kilowatt at 70-80 spots. Ten electric poles were broken and six transformers, eight high tension wires, 16 low tension wires were damaged.”

He said the damage took place on Tuesday snapping electric supply to Mayur Colony, Gandhi Bhavan, Anand Niketan, Bhusari Colony, Madhavbaug, Mahatma Colony and Happy Colony.
