Pune traffic police hold helmet awareness drive

In order to promote the use of helmets in Pune, the Pune traffic police branch kicked off a helmet awareness campaign in the city from Friday. Total 27 police officers and 180 police personnel participated in a bike rally which was taken out by the Pune traffic police.

Along with police officers, members of Bikarni group of women bikers also participated in the bike rally. These officers and the women bikers were divided in ten different groups. The rally kicked off from police headquarters in Shivajinagar and it covered the various areas of the city including BMCC road, Fergusson college road, Azam campus, SP college, Symbiosis college.

The officers held discussion with the students and teachers to explain the importance of the use of helmet while riding bike. The officers stated that out of the total number of road accidental deaths, maximum victims are bikers and therefore the traffic police appealed youngsters to use helmet.
