Pune to host seventh Vinod Doshi theatre festival

The seventh Vinod Doshi theatre festival is all set to enthrall Pune’s theatre-lovers with Marathi, English, Hindi and Rajasthani plays. The annual 5 day festival will be held from February 23 – 27 at the Balgandharva Rangmandir.

The festival will include romantic comedy 'Kausal Sapno', a Rajasthani adaptation of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and one-woman play 'C Sharp C Blunt' enacted by singer-actor M D Pallavi and directed by Sophia Stepf from Germany. The Maharashtra Cultural Centre will present the Marathi play 'Aparadhi Sugandha'. Indian Ensemble & Riad Mahmood Education and Arts Foundation will present the Hindi play 'Kaumudi', directed by Abhishek Majumdar. Set in the late 1960s in Allahabad, the play explores the dynamics between an estranged father and son.

The Vinod and Saryu Doshi Foundation, which is a public charity trust, set up seven years ago to celebrate Vinod Doshi's love for theatre, will organise the event. The trust encourages emerging talent in the visual and performing arts through fellowships, exhibitions and festivals.
