Pune to host Jr World Chess championship

Pune: It’s official— Pune will host the international chess, World Junior Championship for boys and girls to be held here from October 5. It was dna, that first reported that the championship was coming to the city in their 9 May 2014 edition.
The 15-day international contest comes to Pune after a decade. This would be the fourth time, India is hosting the event.
“It’s official. Pune will host the championship from October 5,” said Bharat Singh Chavan, CEO, All India Chess federation while talking to dna from Bhutan on Wednesday.
“We welcome the move and it is good news for all Punekars, especially chess players, as this international championship will give Punekars the chance to witness world class players live,” said Joseph D’Souza. secretary of the Pune District Chess Association, here on Wednesday.
Pune, the hub for this mind game has hosted many national events, but this will be the only second international event in the last one decade.
