Pune: Twenty-six-year-old Vishal Narendra Korpade has become the first victim of the deadly dengue virus in the season. With the PMC having announced water cuts leading to storage of water, the report has raised serious concerns, say health experts.
Till June 26, 71 cases of dengue have been reported from city hospitals. “It’s true that in times of water scarcity, people tend to store water which is a favourable breeding spot for dengue-causing mosquitoes. Hence, we are carrying out a community awareness campaign People should help us in curbing this as this mosquito breeds indoors in clean water,” said Dr S.T. Pardeshi, medical officer of health, PMC.
In Korpade’s case, the breeding site was found in the deceased’s house.
