Pune: After witnessing tension in many areas of the city over the past week, people across communities and political parties have joined hands to make the city more peaceful. In order to bring more communal harmony to the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation has called for a meeting of all community leaders, political leaders and senior police officials on Wednesday.

Areas including Hadapsar, Yerwada, Kothrud and Sinhgad Road were tense following stone pelting incidents after some derogatory posts regarding Shivaji and Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray were posted on social networking websites.
In Hadapsar, Mohsin Sadiq Shaikh, working for an IT company lost his life after a mob attacked him. The union home ministry also took cognisance of the incident and has asked for a detailed report on the case.
Kodre said, “As the first citizen of the city, it is my duty to take responsibility to make sure that peace prevails. Meeting was scheduled on Tuesday, but due to some commitment, the meeting is rescheduled on Wednesday. Apart from the meeting, I am appealing to MLAs and corporators to ensure city is calm.”
