Actor-turned-script writer Bobby Bhonsle has spent over 16 years in the television industry. He is the mind behind the scripts of many serials including some of the most popular ‘K’ serials produced by Ekta Kapoor such as Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasamh Se and Kaahin Kissii Roz. After living for over two decades in Mumbai, Bobby is back in Pune and is currently looking for fresh faces for upcoming TV serials and feels young girls and boys from Pune have a lot of potential to become future telly-stars.

Kickstarting career with Big B...
I started my acting career in Major Saab and was lucky to share the screen space with super star Amitabh Bachhan, a major part of which was shot at Khadakwasla in Pune. After that I worked with a talent management company where I did the casting for Madhuri Dixit and Prabhudeva’s famous Que Sera Sera song in Pukar. I also produced and directed Star Bestsellers series and finally got an opportunity to write scripts for Balaji Telefilms. My first story was Kahiin To Hoga, which was an instant hit. Eventually I got into casting and opened my own management company and helped many young faces.

Mumbai calling Pune
Pune being a city of colleges, institutes and young people, I see a great potential in the huge talent pool available here. There are many young girls and boys who want to make a career in acting, and my idea of shifting to this city after so many years is majorly aimed at giving these people a break and helping them make a future in television. For anyone who wants to pursue a career in acting, has to pack his/her bags to Mumbai, no matter which acting school they may have gone to. It’s like an interview call which one has to go for. To bridge that gap, I decided to start my own institute in Pune. From acting lessons, to teaching them the nuances of posing in front of the camera, to getting the postures right, and preparing for auditions, I teach them everything.

TV is getting bigger, better
In my stint in the television industry, I have seen it grow by leaps and bounds. It’s a huge market. The fact that it’s free entertainment which is available to the masses 24x7, makes the TV industry very important. There is content for every kind of viewer and production houses are always looking for fresh faces. And due to this ever-increasing demand for actors, I decided to come to this city. We are already running auditions in many parts of the city and have shortlisted a few candidates for some upcoming serials for leading channels. We also plan to do some activities in college campuses on regular basis, so that students who are interested in acting, can appear for auditions by enrolling themselves.

(Auditions are currently on at KPCT Mall, Near Vishal Mega Mart, Fatima Nagar. For more details call 020-69295555/6666)
