Pune: A 16-year-old girl sustained burn injuries on her back, after being attacked by unknown boys with balloons near Nehrunagar area, Pimpri on Monday afternoon. Prima facie, the police suspect that it was not an acid attack, however, they said they can only confirm the case after the chemical analyser report. According to the police, the incident took place when the girl had come out to pick up her sister’s son on Monday afternoon in the Nehruanagar area.
Speaking to dna, investigating officer SD Bhutekar of Pimpri police station said, “The girl was speaking to a friend, during which an unidentified boy hit a balloon from behind and disappeared from the area. The suddenly the girl noticed burn injuries and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.” Bhutekar said that girl did not suffer from serious burns and thus she has been discharged from the hospital. “We have collected the balloon which was contained colours and have sent it to the chemical laboratory to confirm whether it was acid or not. We have lodged a complaint against unidentified person in this regard and our investigation is on,” he added.
