More than 100 members of Pune bikers group will undergo a week-long disaster management training programme at the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Talegao, next month.
Sangram Devkar, member of Pune bikers group said, “The bikers will be trained in two separate batches. They will be trained about safety measure and rescue operations during any disaster.”
Devkar further added, “During such crisis, it becomes difficult to save people where vehicles cannot reach. However, we can rush to these spots in our bikes to help people.”
Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has also come forward to guide and help the bikers group in this initiative. RTO officer Arun Valiv has met the Pune district collector for the same.
Valiv said, “The district collector was glad to know that the young volunteers are coming forward for this initiative. He assured that he will be supporting us from the disaster management fund.”
