Pune based NGO to add special programs for slum dwellers

Pune: Seva Sahyog Foundation, a city based NGO, is going to add several new programs for its existing project ‘Samatkarsh’, a year long project which will be conducted for the underprivileged students starting from June 16.
The latest additions to the program which will be held in the urban slums are subjects like science, English and computers as well as the ‘Kishori Vikas’ program which is especially for the teenage girls of the slums.
The objective of Samatkarsh is the wholesome growth of the students residing in slums. During the program, classes will be held daily in study centers to support the students in their regular academic studies. Teachers have been appointed for respective study centers.
There will be weekly sessions by corporate volunteers for subjects like science, english, mathematics, computers and other extracurricular activities to improve basic understanding of the subjects and to help the youths to develop an interest in the topics.
Under ‘Kishori Vikas’, the issues faced by adolescent girls with respect to health, emotions and career will be addressed. Development of teenage girls in different aspects of life will also be focused on through counseling sessions and activity based training sessions.
The study centers in Aundh , Pashan, Yerwada, Sinhagad Road and Baner would accommodate about 2000 students.
