Pune: The cyber cell of the Pune police suspect that the miscreants who sent provocative messages to add fuel to fire are from Mumbai. On

Saturday night, violence struck the city over posts on social networking sites mocking Shivaji Maharaj and
Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Though the post was removed within three hours, the agitated Shiv Sena works took
to streets and pelted stones, damaging several government buses.
Speaking to the dna a senior officer said, “We are going to take preventive action against organisations which spread rumours. We are in the process of registering a separate case under The Information Technology Act. The cyber crime cell has zero down on certain links and have scrutinised mobile numbers. Most of the provocation SMSes which were circulated in city and the rest of Maharashtra are from Mumbai, Pune and some places from Marathwada.”
The police said that they are yet to verify the mobile numbers and send a team to probe into the matter. The team comprising the local policemen and all the cyber crime officers across Maharashtra are probing the case. Even the Hindu Rashtra Sena (HRS) Chief Dhananjay Desai’s blogs and his accounts on the social networking sites are being scrutinised for investigation purpose, the police informed.
