Friday, 6 June 2014 - 9:53am IST | Place: Pune | Agency: DNA

Pune: Almost a week after 34-year-old Varun Sethi, a techie hailing from Bhatinda was stabbed to death at Marunje road in Hinjewadi, the city police are working on the possibility of another murder linked to the same persons believed to have murdered Sethi.

Barely a few hours after the techie’s murder came to light, another body of a 29-year-old man identified as Manu Kumar was found in an isolated area on Dehu road. Since police are considering robbery as a motive behind Sethi’s murder, they suspect that the same gang or person could have had a hand in Kumar’s death too.
Around 10 pm last Thursday, an Infosys employee saw Sethi lying in a pool of blood on Marunje Road. He informed the police control room and Infosys officials. Soon, a police team reached the spot and ru-shed Sethi to a hospital where he was declared dead. Eight hours later, body of Manu Kumar a painter from Bihar was found in Dehu road. Both men had come to the city less than a fortnight ago for jobs.
R G Patil inspector in-charge of Dehu road police station said, “Kumar’s body was found in an isolated area at Katraj Dehu road bypass, about 8kms from site of the techie’s murder. We found some similarity in both cases, basically the stab injuries and also no cash or valuables were found on either of them. We assume Kumar may have been targetted by the same man or gang who murdered Sethi.”
Suresh Bhosale inspector in-charge of Hinjewadi police station said, “We are probing the case from all angles but involvement of robbers looks most likely. To understand the way the crime was committed, we are trying to reconstructing the crime scene. Two days after the techie’s murder, we learnt that on the same night another body of a youth was found in the fringe area of Dehu road police station and we are probing the case along with them.”
