Cops identify five most dangerous spots

Having been caught off guard after a dna report highlighted a spate of robberies -- one in six days -- in Pune’s IT hub Hinjewadi, the Hinjewadi police have swung into action and identified five dangerous spots where most of the robberies are taking place. The report also highlighted the police’s failure to curb the robberies as they have not been able to crack 75% of the cases.
After recieving orders from the Pune commissioner of police to tighten up security, senior police inspector Parshuram Patil said they have started their special drive during night in these areas.
“Robbers target those people who travel alone in the night. They either ask for lift and stop the vehicle. If they get the lift, they force the person to stop in a deserted area and take away cash, gold ornaments and also the vehicle,” said Patil, explaining the common modus operandi.
The Hinjewadi police said that a special team of 21 police constables with five cars and three two-wheelers would be deployed for night patrolling in the wee hours in these areas.

They report at any the gates of the IT companies in 30 minutes. There are four QRT commandos and one constable from the Hinjewadi police.”
