PMC’s `4,150 crore budget is quite innovative

Pune: When standing committee chairman Vishal Tambe presented the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) budget for the year 2014-15, he proposed many new things for the city.
Generic medicine stores, city innovation and business incubation centre for innovators, issuance of birth and death certificate instantly through online system, installing sanitary napkin disposal machines at the ward offices for the first time atleast in Pune. 
Tambe on Tuesday presented the budget for the year 2014-15 which is pegged at Rs4,150.02 crore. 
The budget was presented before the special general body meeting presided over by city mayor Chanchala Kodre. 
Tambe has proposed to make Pune a tourist hub with development of heritage park, heritage village and developing Shaniwar Wada, Vishrambaug Wada, Bhide Wada, Sambhaji Garden, Peshve Park and Taljai Gardens as the most sought after destinations. 
He has also proposed an Oxygen Park at Taljai hills and information centre at Vishrambaug Wada, freedom fighter’s museum at Nana Wada, Kalagram at Pu. La. Deshpande gardens on the lines of Dilli Haat. 
He has allocated a fund of Rs22 crore for various projects aimed at making Pune a tourist hub. 

PMC would create an innovation and incubation centre for the innovative entrepreneurs from the city and it would be the first municipal corporation to do so.
The innovation and incubation centre will be set up with the help of science and technolgy park of India (STPI) at UoP campus. 
PMC would also create a central library with the help of University of Pune which would help the aspirants of various competitive examinations to prepare for such exams. 
While addressing the youngsters with these two proposals, Tambe proposed organising sports competitions for senior citizens. For children he has proposed setting up Bal Bhavans at four places in a decentralised manner in the city.

PMC would launch nursing courses to train 200 nurses at the building adjacent to its Kamla Nehru hospital. 
It would also start post graduate centre for medical students with the help of BJ Medical College so that PMC hospitals can get expert doctors. 
The civic body will provide for dialysis at Rs300 for the urban poor in the city at Tarachand hospital. 

Generic Medicine Stores
The PMC would open six generic medicines stores out of which the two stores would function round the clock. The Kamla Nehru Hospital and Late Rajiv Gandhi hospital at Yervada would have these two round the clock generic medicine stores. The other four stores would be opened at hospitals in areas like Hadapsar, Kothrud, Padmavati, Dhanakvadi, Kharadi and Bopodi areas. These stores would be run on an experimental bsis so that examining its success the stores could be continued and increased. 

Easier Death Certificates

The PMC would introduce scanners and computers at all the three enters where the death certificate is issued so that death certificate can be issued instantly through on-line system. Tambe said that this would help the next of the kins of deceased in various cases where the relatives and next of kins are from outstation destinations or foreign countries. He pointed out that the death pass is issued at Vaikunth crematorium, Sassoon Hospital or birth-detah registration office of PMC at Vishrambaug Wada. This death pass can be scanned and certificate can be issued instantly by sending the scanned pass to PMC office. 

Pune Metro


Pune metro would receive a fillip with PMC making allocation of Rs. 25 crores for the project in its budget for the year 2014-15. It has also kept Rs. Seven crores for HCMTR while it has kept Rs. Five crores for Mono Rail on HCMTR route. It has kept Rs. 27 crores for PMPML to improve the public transport system. It would follow the PCMC to create grade separators at Katraj, Manjarai bye-pass, Simla Office and Nagar road.
