Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) took its drive against illegal structure further by demolishing four unauthorized wedding halls. Although the operators of these halls resisted, the structures were razed on Tuesday amid police bandobast.
Aaher Garden, Mangal Karyalay, Mauli hall and Shubham Garden were brought down in the drive which began in the morning. The owners of these property started raising their voices and intervened with the actions of the Anti-encroachment officials.
PCNTDA’s zonal officer, Suresh Abhang said, “The authorities had informed the owners of these properties about the demolishing drive but they did not pay any heed. We had razed the structures in the past but they rebuilt it which prompted us to take action.”
The action was taken in accordance with the high court orders and the directives committee appointed by the legislative. The property owners challenged the action in Pune Civil court but failed to secure a favorable order.
The wedding halls 
were constructed on a 7 acre area and each building 
“area was 1 lakh sqaurefeet. According to the officials, more such illegal structures will be demolished till 
}May 30. 2 wedding halls will be demolished on Wednesday.
This demolition drive is headed by Yogesh Mhase (CEO), Kalyan Pandhare (Deputy CEO), Suresh Abhang, (Zonal Officer), Chandrakant Jhaval (Executive Engineer) of PCNTDA who were present during the process.
