She added, “Last week, we gave the garments to the authorities from the State Forensic Medical Laboratory. We expect that the experts from the laboratory would be able to extract her DNA from the clothes. That would enable them get samples of her DNA without exhuming the body. The experts have promised to get back to us in ten days. If the experts succeed, it will help fortify the case.”

Sanam (19), a second-year fashion design student of Symbiosis College in Vimannagar, took ill while in the party thrown by her friends on her birthday on October 2, 2012. She died the next day.

The case is being probed by the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the organiser of the party has been arrested for alleged involvement in causing Sanam’s death due to negligence. dna had carried a series of reports on the goof ups in the forensic tests of Sanam’s viscera, heart, blood and vaginal smear as the DNA extracted from her viscera, heart, blood and vaginal smear did not match her parents’.
