Pune: A devotee who was busy taking darshan of Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi at Tilak Chowk on Mumba -Pune Highway was targeted by a chain snatcher who decamped with her gold chain estimated to be worth Rs 60,000 on Friday. Assistant Police Inspector M R Khokale said that the victim identified as Sandeep Jalinder Jadhav (35), a resident of rupeenagar , was taking darshan of the Palkhi when the suspect came from behind taking advantage of the crowd , snatched his chain and escaped. The police have identified the suspect as Ganesh Dnyandeo Gaikwad, a resident of Meersangvi in Pathardi tehsil of the district.
OB engineer's 70,000 gold chain looted by unknown person in Palkhi.
An unidentified person allegedly robbed a news channel OB van engineer's gold chain during Palkhi in Dighi Magzine chowk on Saturday at around 10.30 am. Sakharam Karvande (30) a resident of Andheri, Mumbai was on live palkhi coverage for news channel when the incident took place.
According to Police, Victim got down from van to guide OB van driver in order take appropriate reverse as warkari in palkhi was increasing in number from Alandi towards city. When a unknown person in crowd allegedly snatched victim's gold chain worth Rs 70,000. As victim was busy in guiding driver, realized about the change after some time.
As Palkhi was heading towards city and crowd was increasing, we got stuck between crowd and wanted to take OB van little behind from the crowd to supply proper coverage in mumbai office. Therefore, I got down from the left side of vehicle to assist driver. In the course of guiding driver, some unknown person has scissored my gold chain cunningly and robbed. Till the time I realize about my chain it was very late.
30-year-old manhandles police personnel while performing duty
Police personnel was allegedly manhandled by a 30-year-old person in Sant Tukaram Palkhi procession on Sunday at around 2.30 pm. Santosh Shirsat (30) a resident of Netaji Nagar was allegedly trying to molest women women in procession when Police personnel Ranpise who was on Palkhi bandobast duty spotted Shirsat.
According to police, case of deterring public servant from his duty has been lodged in Khadki poilce station following to Shirsat had apprehended. Police Naik Ranpise was performing his duty when he noticed Shirsat standing along side of road is trying to get close near women who were walking along with procession. On seeing this, Ranpise took Shirsat little aside and made him realize whatever he is doing is not right. According to which Shirsat went on police personnel and struggled his opposition bit physically.
