Online school admission for kindergarten in Pune begins on Monday

Pune: The online admission for nursery, KG and standard I, for the 25 per cent economically weaker section (EWS) quota under the Right To Education (RTE) Act, is scheduled to begin from Monday. Parents of students seeking admission at entry level in the city schools, can approach 45 centres within Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad areas, which will facilitate them in the online admission process.
The director of education (primary) has asked city schools to keep 25 per cent seats vacant for nursery, KG and class I. There are approximately 9,442 seats across 440 schools in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad areas, under the 25 per cent EWS quota.
“There are 45 centres across the city where parents who are seeking admissions for their kids can go and fill the forms with the help of our trained staff. We have also organised counselling sessions for the parents at the centres to guide them on the RTE and online admission procedures,” said Mahavir Mane, the director of primary education. He added that parents will have to mention names of three schools (within 3 km radius) in the form, out of which one school will be selected for admission.
Mane said that documents such as SC/ST certificate, income certificate, disability certificate, residence proof, birth certificate and passport size photographs will be required during the admission process. He added that orphans will require a letter from their orphanage for school admission.
“Since we are expecting more applications than the intake capacity, admissions will be drawn through a lottery system and parents will be informed about their status through SMS,” said Mane.
The website designed by MKCL for the admission of 25 per cent EWS quota is (www.rtemaharashtra.in) and parents will be able to fill the forms from March 24 to 29.
