Now, traffic flows smoothly in Pune's Hinjewadi

Traffic snarls a passe here after one ways, no-parking zones introduced

Techies working at Hinjewadi IT park can heave a sigh of relief as the changes made by the traffic police at Hinjewadi have finally given them some respite.

The traffic police department has declared no parking zones in some areas of the IT Park area. It has also declared a one way in certain areas which has resulted into some improvement in the traffic situation in the area.

The police have also decided to remove barricades installed on the Mumbai- Pune Highway during peak hours so that traffic can go to Baner and Pashan areas.

Deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Vishwas Pandhare, said, “We have carried out a detailed study of the area, following which we decided to create no parking zones in some areas. We have also decided to remove barricades installed under flyover from 5:30pm to 9pm so that the traffic going towards Baner, Pashan and other parts of the city can use that route.”

IT professionals are happy with the new traffic arrangements as they do not have to spend hours in the traffic snarl.

Ritu Singh (35), an IT professional said, “It was a nightmare as I used to get stuck in the traffic for more than 40 minutes everyday, however, for the last one month after the city traffic department have made changes in the route, I don’t have face the traffic snarl.”

Richard Parikh (29), an IT professional said that it has been a great respite after the city traffic department opened the route under the flyover for the people going towards Baner and Pashan. At many places they have made no parking zones, which gives additional space to the traffic coming from Hinjewadi IT park.

Another techie Lokesh Sharma (25) said, “Traffic snarl is one of the common issue at Hinjewadi. Most of the IT people leave their offices in the evening and it results into traffic jams. However for the last one month, I saw a drastic change in the traffic flow as there are traffic jams anymore.”
