Now, pay your property tax even on holidays

PMC also announces rebate to tax payers who will pay their tax before May 31

Pune: Here is a good news for those who get stuck in their work all day and could not file their property tax. The property tax department of PMC has announced that they will be keeping the tax collection centres open on all the holidays of May.Also, after receiving many complaints from citizens in facing problems in paying online property tax, the civic administration has now claimed that they have solved the problem. According to them, the website is now functioning smoothly. Also the PMC has announced a rebate to the citizens who will be paying property tax before the end of May. As per the scheme, the citizens whose property tax bills are less than Rs 25,000 will get a rebate of 10 per cent in general tax while those who have property tax bills more than Rs 25,000 will get rebate of 5 per cent. However, they will have to pay the tax before the end of May. 

In the last week, some citizens had complained that the online facility for the payment of property tax was not working properly due to which they could not pay the tax. When Hemant Nikam, head of property tax department of PMC, was asked about the issue, he said, “We have taken service from BSNL and their line was facing some problems due to which the website was crashing. But now the problem has been fixed and the website is functioning smoothly.”Nikam added, “Apart from online payment, PMC will be keeping their all property tax collection centres open even on holidays of May so that citizens should not face any problem while paying their property tax.”
