No respite from night robberies; teacher looted in Hinjewadi

The spate of night robberies still continues in Hinjewadi area. A 27-year-old school teacher was looted of cash and mobile phone totally worth Rs10,050 on Thursday night at Hinjewadi area on Thursday night. The incident took place on Wakad-Kalakhadak Road at Wakad.

dna had earlier in the week reported a rise in night robberies in Hinjewadi and neighbouring areas, which is known as the IT hub of Pune, where techies often travel at night. A complaint in this regard was lodged by the victim, Dipali Santosh Gaikwad of Blue Bells, Chowdhary Park, Wakad at Hinjewadi police station.

According to the police, Gaikwad and her friend had gone to Dange Chowk on Thursday night on her bike for shopping. After shopping, she was returning on her bike to Chowdhary Park. When she arrived near the brick mill areas on Wakad-Kala-Khadak Road, two unidentified motorcyclists came from behind and snatched her purse and disappeared from the area. Gaikwad somehow managed to maintain her balance and did not fall. Gaikwad was travelling along with her son and friend. After the incident, she went home and lodged a complaint with Hinjewadi police the next day, the police said.

Gaikwad is a teacher in an English medium school based in Wakad area.
