Deputy chief minister and guardian minister of Pune Ajit Pawar said that liquor shops in Pune will be closed on Ganesh Chaturthi, Anant Chaturdashi and the day after Anant Chaturdashi during the fest.
He was speaking at the awards function organised by Vighnaharta Nyas of Pune police on Friday to felicitate ideal Ganesh mandals in various categories.
“Orders have been issued to the district collector of Pune to close down all the liqour shops in the district on September 9, 18 and 19,” said Pawar.
He said that the police department has been instructed not to take any act of eve teasing lightly.
“The state government has given the permission to use loudspeakers till 12 am for last five days of the festival. The mandals must ensure that CCTVs are installed in the pandals,” added Pawar.
City police commissioner Gulabrao Pol said that the city is on the terror radar and all the mandals should take precautions to avert any such incident.
