The 130-acre Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park at Katraj is managed by the Pune Municipal Corporation. It situated on the Pune-Satara Highway near Bharati Vidyapeeth Campus. Rajkumar Jadhav, deputy superintendent PMC’s garden said, “The proposed 2020 master plan for the new developments in the zoo has been approved by the Central Zoo Authority and Puneites will soon witness a completely new avatar.”
The place will see new cages, reptiles and a park. There will also be a new conservation building centre which will help promote the zoo in a better way. The new entrants in the zoo will be leopard, giant squirrel, hyena, wild dogs and fox. “We are also looking at a walk-through area for birds and a wildlife conservation educational centre. The feedback from people has been tremendous and we are working to provide the best for visitors,”added Jadhav. 
He said that they are proud to be a part of an initiative that can be termed as the green lung of the city. “It is a commendable achievement that in today’s day and age of development we have managed to maintain a true green area for the city.”
