The accident took place near Bavdhan toll plaza while she was travelling to Mumbai with her friends.

Etisha, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, was a student of Pune Institute of Business Management (PIBM). She was to join her first job in a Mumbai company on November 21 and her college friends had organised a party at Bhugaon to celebrate. On Saturday night her classmates Deepanjan Mahto (23) and Shantam Pandey (23) picked up Etisha from her hostel in Bavdhan.

Shantam, who was driving the car, said that Etisha was supposed to leave for Mumbai at 4 in the morning.

“After we crossed Bavdhan toll plaza I was trying to overtake a car, but the car suddenly changed its lane and in an attempt to avoid collision I steered away, but lost control and dashed the fencing of a construction site. A rod from the fence pierced the glass of the car and hit Etisha’s forehead who was in the front seat. Mahto was in the rear seat too got injured with the same rod,” Shantam explained.

Etisha and Mahto were rushed to hospital, but Etisha was declared dead on arrival. Mahto has serious injuries.
