Mindspark 2012 fest unites technology's bests

The ‘Most Enthusiastic College Award’ went to Raigad's Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University at the 3-day technical show that attracted engineering students from across India.

The Walchand College of Engineering (WCE) from Sangli won the ‘Technical Championship’ award at ‘Mindspark-2012’, the annual technical festival of College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) which ended on October 7.

The ‘Most Enthusiastic College Award’ went to Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University from Raigad at the three-day technical extravaganza, which  attracted engineering students from across India.

The sixth edition of the event saw participants putting their technical skills in the championship, which had 53 events theme around ‘Evolution’. The idea was to focus on evolution of technology, while providing a glimpse into the future.

Director general of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) Sanjay Chahande inaugurated the fest, the first day of which saw ‘Robowars’, followed by various multi-disciplinary events such as CodeJunkie, Green Building, Wheelomation, Mechtrix, Torquest etc.

Events such as Aqualympics, De-tech-tive and Googler, designed for freshers and senior high school students were also conducted.

The famous Mumbai dabbawalas, who serve as the subject of many case studies in business schools, were also seen at the fest delivering lectures to students, inspiring them on areas of entrepreneurship, time management and managerial skills. The first day witnessed a cultural night as well, where Pandit Niladri Kumar, a pioneer of ‘Zitar’, a unique modification of sitar and guitar, performed along with tabla player Pt Vijay Ghate.

The highlight of the second day was the performance of Purushottam Karandak winning team from CoEP.
The concluding day witnessed cultural entertainment night organised by the CoEP cultural team.
