Man poses as army Major, steals bike

An unidentified man posed as a Major of Southern Command and stole a motorcycle of an army clerk at L-Maitri complex parking area, which is close to the Southern Command headquarters, on January 8. 

The incident took place when the victim had come to the complex for some work. A complaint in this regard has been lodged by the clerk Maminul Haq Noormohmmed Ali (28) with Bundgarden police station.

According to the police, Ali is a clerk at record branch of the Southern Command and had come to the complex for some bank work. Assistant police inspector Ramesh Bhosale of Bundgarden police station told dna, “Ali was parking his motorcycle at the complex. At 12.30 pm, an unidentified man wearing an army uniform with name plate ‘PD Patil’ posed as a Major. The person asked Ali for his motorcycle, saying he is going to receive his brother at the Pune railway station. Ali gave his bike and went inside the bank for his work.

But the man never returned. “Ali inquired with authorities and came to know that there is no such Major.”
