Dhanda has been booked by the Vishrambagh police for his behaviour with the police constables in front of Dagdusheth Halwai temple on Thursday. He has booked under section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of Indian Penal Code, 1860.
A complaint in this regard has been lodged by constable Shriram Tukaram Manjre with Vishrambagh police. According to Manjre’s statement, “I, along with five other QRT constables were on night duty at Dagdusheth temple. At 11.15 pm, a SUV baring registration number HR 99 - PHQ 5086 was heading to Belbagh Chowk from Budhwar Chowk. When the vehicle reached Shri Darshan electronics, it dashed a moped bearing registration number MH 12 KO 8833. Following which, the moped owner and Dhanda started arguing. We went there and tried to take out the moped which was trapped in the vehicle’s bumper.”
The statement further says that Dhanda started abusing the constables saying that they don’t deserve to talk to him.

“I will suspend you people in five minutes,” were Dhanda’s words.
“Later, he tried to snatch the weapon from our constable,” said Dhanda.
Meanwhile, the policemen from Vishrambagh police station and assistant commissioner of police (city) JS Lohakare had reached the spot and taken him to the police station.
Deputy commissioner of police (zone - I) MB Tambade told dna, “When Dhanda was taken to the police station, he misbehaved with the ACP also. He refused to co-operate with the police. When we wanted to take him for medical test at Sassoon hospital, he refused to come along. But we took him to Jehangir hospital after much insistence and got him admitted. We have not arrested him yet.”
When asked whether Dhanda will be arrested, Tambade said, “Nobody is above the law. Dhanda has been booked under relevant sections of IPC, 1860. Once we got a positive report from the hospital, we will arrest him in the case.”
