On the last day of the local body tax (LBT) registrations on Monday, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) registered 2050 entities and collected Rs25 crore.

So far, the civic body has collected Rs40 crore against the imports made by traders in Pune last month.

PMC would be issuing notices to 11,000 traders in Pune who have not registered themselves under the LBT and are still conducting their business.

Joint commissioner and incharge of LBT Vilas Kanade said, “We intend to issue the notices from Tuesday. However, if the strike is withdrawn and the traders are provided extended deadline for submitting the details of imports last month and depositing the LBT, we would not issue notices.”

The traders are supposed to submit details and deposit the LBT by 20th of every month. Since LBT was imposed from April 1, 2013, the traders were supposed to submit their records and deposit the tax before May 20.

Kanade said that malls, petrol companies and liquor traders were among those who deposited big amounts towards LBT.
