Pune: Against the backdrop of cases of child sex abuse within the ambit of a school, over 1,000 representatives from various schools attended a school bus committee seminar at Rajiv Gandhi e-learning school at Sahakarnagar on Tuesday.
Representatives from the education department and Pune regional transport office emphasised on the importance of forming school bus committee. They also said that the local police should be alerted about any complaints against school bus drivers and conductors.
“It is important for the school authorities to teach children about good and bad touch so that they can inform school authorities if they face any such incident,” said assistant regional transport officer, Yogesh Bagh. He added, “Women can take care of the children better and hence school buses must have female attendants.”
VP of PMC school board Narendra Vyavhare said, “The school authorities should do a complete background check of the bus driver and attendant and immediate action should be taken if any parent or student lodges a complaint.”
