Pune: It’s been nearly four months since a group of residents from Prabhat Road have been demanding Khau Galli outside Kamla Nehru Park to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Finally, the civic body has listened to their pleas and the favourite Khau Galli is back outside the park.
dna on January 15 had reported about that the Khau Galli, which was quite popular among youngsters, was removed by the anti-encroachment department of PMC, following which some residents had approached the civic administration to get these stalls back in place.
There were a total 30 stalls which included vegetables stalls, milk agency and fruit stalls. They were removed by PMC at the beginning of the year. After costant follow ups, six of the 30 stalls are back in place.
Shirish Bodhani, one of the residents of Prabhat Road, said, “We were constantly following up with the civic administration. These stalls were useful as everything was available at a walkable distance. We are happy that the civic body responded to our demands and some of the stalls are back.”
While some residents are happy, there are some who are concerned. Madhuri Sahasrabuddhe, corporator of the area, said, “I have been urging these stall owners to maintain hygiene in the area and not to litter on the road. I have also suggested stall owners to appoint two watchmen to guide the customers and make sure their vehicles do not block the road.”
