JM blasts suspect made it big in 4 years

Sayed Feroz alias Hamza, who has been arrested by the Delhi police for his alleged involvement in Jungli Maharaj (JM) Road serial blasts on August 1, had made it big over the last four years.

As per the records of Pune police and intelligence report, Feroz had business acumen and did a good job of managing his shops. In a short span, Feroz managed to start four different shops, each of them called ‘Options by Feroz’, in Pune Camp.

According to the sources, Feroz has employed as many as 10 people in his shops. A senior police official, who spoke to DNA on the condition of anonymity, said, “Feroz’s arrest was surprising because he is popular for his tailoring work among the residents of Pune Camp. Even many policemen used to buy their clothes from his shops.” Feroz started his embroidery business in the area about a decade ago.

Police officials said, “Initially, Feroz used to do embroidery work. He was known for his collection of wedding shervanis. He soon developed his business and opened three shops in Pune Camp. His Bhopala Chowk shop was among the most famous.” According to his clients, Feroz was well behaved and polite.

The officer further said, “Feroz used to pay around Rs15,000 rent for his four shops. Many times, he used to go outside the state for buying clothes and his business was profitable.” For the last few years, Feroz would help Haj pilgrims in getting their passports and visas. Police investigations have revealed that Feroz’s passport was issued in 2007 and he used it to go abroad thrice.
