It took a life for Maharasthra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to close Somatane Phata opening

Pune: An IT proffessional was killed on the expressway on Sunday after a truck entered the e-way illegally. Shridhar Shrikrishna Kulkarni, 30, who had just come back from his London trip was traveling in his car on the e-way when he was hit in the rear by a speeding truck. This incident took place near Somatane Phata exit where the truck entered illegaly.
The Maharasthra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), has finally woken up to this tragedy and will close the opening at the exit of Somatane Phata. They visited the spot of the accident and found that vehicles from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation were
entering from the one way ofthe exit to gain access to thee-way illegally.
Arun Deodhar, chief engineer of MSRDC, said that they had made the exit point near PCMC to avoid congestion at the e-way exit. They had installed a railing to avoid illegal trespassers
but they were removed by nearby villagers for easy access.
“We’ll install the new railing by the end of this month and
we have already alerted the highway traffic cops and the local police to keep a check on vehicles entering the e-way illegally,”
Deodhar added.
Lalit Palunde, Senior Police Inspector of Highway traffic police said, “After the Sunday incident we have increased the patrolling to stop local residents from entering the e-way through this exit.”
