The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to put up boards that display information about the ongoing projects, at the work sites going on in the city. This decision has been taken by the civic body in order to provide the public with the complete information about the infrastructural undertakings of the PMC. PMC has made the new rules mandatory for all the contractors.

Activists from the social organisation, Nagrik Chetana Manch, have filed numerous PIL’s and RTI’s, in the past, to ensure that there is transparency in the projects that are undertaken using the tax-payer’s money. Many activists are of the opinion that this displaying of information will help citizens to be aware of what kind of work is being carried out in their localities and hence can raise an objections if they feel that the work has not been completed by the specified dates.
