To finish the immersions of Ganesh idols early, mandals on Tilak Road have decided to start the immersion procession on this road at 12 noon instead of 5 pm.

The Hatti Ganpati Mandal has taken the initiative to start the immersion procession on Tilak Road at 12 noon on Anant Chaturdashi that falls on Wednesday. A meeting was held on Friday evening in this regard at which most of the mandals said they would consider the proposal.

Makarand Ranade, deputy commissioner of police (zone I) informed dna that all the mandal representatives agreed to start the immersion procession early so that it can avoid unnecessary delay for the entire procession. Ranade said Sham Mankar, who is president of Hatti Ganpati Mandal, made it clear that the mandal would start the procession early.

Ranade said representatives of 25 other mandals participating in the immersion procession on Tilak Road have agreed to the proposal.

The proposal comes in the wake of the fact that there is a huge crowd on Laxmi Road during the immersion procession and the increasing number of dhol tasha troupes are unwilling to perform on alternative routes like Kelkar Road, Kumthekar Road and Tilak Road. Mankar said the Hatti Ganpati Mandal would have a troupe of artistes from Kerala, Rajasthan, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.
