Hazare's ex-PA held for beating up woman

Suresh Pathare, a former personal assistant of veteran anti-corruption crusader and Gandhian Anna Hazare, has been arrested by Supe police for allegedly beating up a school principal at her office at Kaushai International Academy at Hanza village in Parner taluka about 120 km from Pune.

The school’s principal Deepali Giri had filed a complaint with Supe police station on October 17. The police have claimed that they have investigated the case before arresting Pathare and his 15 associates.

According to the police, Pathare and Giri, the founders of the academy, have dispute over management issues for the past couple of years.

Speaking to dna, Supe police station inspector Kisan Padwal said, “Both Giri and Pathare have issues over the management of the academy and have also filed a court case. On October 17, Pathare had gone to Giri’s office to hand over her suspension letter.”

“At that time, they had a fight over the issue and Pathare and his associates beat up Giri and left the office. After the incident, Giri has lodged a complaint against Pathare. We arrested Pathare and his associates today,”  he said.

“Giri is recuperating at a private hospital. She has received injuries on her legs and others parts of the body,” the officer said, adding that Pathare has been arrested under relevant sections of IPC, 1860.
