A 40-year-old businessman from Koregaon Park, who was arrested for marrying an interior designer and demanding Rs25 lakh from her, has told a long story of his unsuccessful marriages to the police.

He was married and divorced four times before tying the nuptial knot with the interior designer.

Raj Ravichandra Dixit alias Rajesh Ramchandra Ravtani (40), who was nabbed by the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of Pune crime branch on February 26, told the police during interrogation that he changed his name after failure of his fourth marriage. His astronomer had assured that he would be able to enjoy marital bliss only if he changed his name, the police said.

Speaking to DNA, police inspector Sachin Sawant of AEC said, “During our questioning, Rajesh claimed that his first marriage broke because he was too busy with his business in and had little time for family. As a result, his wife got frustrated and sought divorce from him.”

“Rajesh later joined a private firm where he fell in love with a girl working as a store manager and married her. He claims that the girl was career-driven and had little time for him. She too sought divorce saying she wanted to go to the US for a job,” Sawant said.

“After two years, Rajesh got married again. He claims that his wife’s parents used to interfere with his business.

He used to complain to his wife about it, but in vain. Following all this, the
couple were divorced,” Sawant added.

“Rajesh further said before tying the knot for the fourth time, he talked to his wife about his previous marriages and insisted that they would never discuss their past. However, he said that she always used to dig out his past. She also used to check his wallet, cellphone and call details. Eventually, their marriage failed,” the police inspector said.

“Rajesh then came to Pune from Hyderabad and became a member of Osho Ashram in February last year. Here, he came into contact with a girl who was also a member. Later, their love blossomed and they got married. Rajesh claimed that even that his fifth wife’s parents and relatives would often camp at his house and interfere with their married life. As a result, he and his wife quarrelled frequently,” Sawant added.
