Pune: A day after the 42-year-old nanny was held by the Dattawadi police for allegedly physically beating a 11-months old child in the absence of his parents, more skeletons have tumbled out of the closet. The recruitment agency where Hadapsar-based Baby Laxman Patole (42), worked had conducted no police verification. The distraught parents have canceled plans to celebrate the toddler’s first birthday which happens to be on May 15.
The incident had come to light, when Happy alias Hemishkumar’s parents lodged a complaint with Dattawadi police station against Patole. She was arrested under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code comprises of assualt and intentional insult and also under the provisions laid under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act consist punishment for cruelty to child under lawful custody.
Speaking to dna, the child’s mother Vasanta ruefully said, “I am feeling very guilty about the incident. I have learnt a lesson the hard way, I have decided to quit working and take care of my child. We are taking legal counsel to take action against the bureau.”
On Wednesday, Patole was produced before the court of judicial magistrate (First Class) where she plead guilty for the act, claiming that it was not intentional.
Sambhaji Nimbalkar inspector in-charge of Dattawadi police station said, “During investigation it was revealed that the recruitment agency from whom she was hired had not carried her police verifications.”
The magistrate remanded her magistral custody and later granted bail.
